GEORGES MORA FELLOWSHIP EXHIBITION

Celebrating artistic courage and creative expression, the Georges Mora Fellowship comes to Sofi’s Lounge. Founded in honour of Georges Mora, a pivotal figure in Melbourne’s art scene, the Fellowship champions Australian artists and their creative ambitions. Featuring works by past Fellows and artist Caroline Williams Mora, the exhibition reflects the innovation and individuality at the heart of Georges Mora’s legacy.

THE FELLOWSHIP

Established in 2007 by artist Caroline Williams Mora in honour of her husband, the Fellowship carries forward Georges Mora’s passion for artistic exploration. French by adoption, Georges became a defining figure in Melbourne’s cultural landscape, supporting artists and introducing new perspectives through his galleries and creative ventures.

Today, the Fellowship continues his vision through financial support, a residency at the State Library of Victoria and access to research resources, empowering artists to challenge conventions and pursue new directions in their practice.

FEATURED ARTISTS

Bringing together works by nine Georges Mora Fellows spanning 2008 to 2026, the exhibition offers a glimpse into the diverse artistic practices and creative perspectives nurtured through the Fellowship. Among the artists represented are Cyprus Tang, Ross Coulter, Linda Tegg, James Geurts, Jude Walton, Shivanjani Lal, Rosie Isaac, Olivia Koh and Zoe Meagher.

An invitation to discover art beyond the expected, where artistic ambition and bold ideas bring Georges Mora’s vision to life for a new generation.
