Sofitel Melbourne On Collins is proud to present the captivating work of Sarah Tracton, an award-winning artist and designer, known for pushing the boundaries of porcelain through her innovative, light-filled creations. In her latest exhibition, Alchemy of Light, she brings together sustainability, design, and craftsmanship in a collection that is both functional and poetic.
As part of the 2025 Melbourne Design Week, this exhibition highlights the transformative power of materiality and light, showcasing a unique perspective on contemporary design.
From May 16 until June 30, 2025 | Lobby Archway & Level 35 Promenade
Tracton is a multidisciplinary artist and lighting designer whose work bridges fine art, craft, and functional design. Celebrated for her luminous, handcrafted porcelain lighting, she explores the translucent beauty of porcelain through innovative ceramic techniques and embraces imperfection through Kintsugi repair. Her award-winning work has been recognised and exhibited both nationally and internationally, including ICFF New York (2024), and will be the first Australian to present a solo show at DesignArt Tokyo (2025).
Step behind the scenes of Sarah Tracton’s Alchemy of Light exhibition with three exclusive Meet the Designer talks. Join Sarah and technical collaborator, Dr. Ian Watkins, as they share insights into Sarah’s creative process and her unique blend of art and hospitality, influenced by her background as a trained chef. They will also debut their latest innovation—rechargeable porcelain lights that double as serving trays—blending design and gastronomy in an entirely new way. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn from their visionary collaboration.
