ALCHEMY OF LIGHT – Exhibition by Sarah Tracton
Sofitel Melbourne On Collins was proud to present the captivating work of Sarah Tracton, an award-winning artist and designer known for pushing the boundaries of porcelain through her innovative, light-filled creations.
In her exhibition Alchemy of Light, she brought together sustainability, design, and craftsmanship in a collection that was both functional and poetic. As part of the 2025 Melbourne Design Week, this exhibition highlighted the transformative power of materiality and light, showcasing a unique perspective on contemporary design.
Tracton is a multidisciplinary artist and lighting designer whose work bridged fine art, craft, and functional design. Celebrated for her luminous, handcrafted porcelain lighting, she explored the translucent beauty of porcelain through innovative ceramic techniques and embraced imperfection through Kintsugi repair.
Her award-winning work had been recognised and exhibited both nationally and internationally, including ICFF New York (2024), and she was the first Australian to present a solo show at DesignArt Tokyo (2025).
