As a Hotel for the Arts, Sofitel Melbourne On Collins is proud to showcase Six Artists | Seven Days, an evocative exhibition presented by Defiance Gallery born from a week-long residency in Newhaven Wildlife Sanctuary. Through this collaborative project, six artists transform the desert landscape into expressive, contemplative works that both celebrate Country and support the vital conservation efforts of the Australian Wildlife Conservancy.

Immersed in the vast horizons of Newhaven Wildlife Sanctuary, the artists explored the desert’s shifting light, textures, and rhythms. Their works translate these experiences into expressive, contemplative forms: bold gestures meet delicate marks, vibrant palettes echo the ochres and charcoals of the landscape, and compositions capture both the desert’s raw intensity and quiet poetry.

Set within one of Australia’s largest private conservation areas, the exhibition draws inspiration from the desert landscape, celebrating its beauty and fragility while supporting the Australian Wildlife Conservancy’s vital work at Newhaven.

Following its success at Defiance Gallery in Sydney, the exhibition arrives at Sofitel Melbourne On Collins with additional works, offering a fresh perspective on the desert landscape. This fifth and final residency aims to raise $1,000,000 for the Australian Wildlife Conservancy’s vital work protecting species and restoring habitat at Newhaven.
