The Australian Brandenburg Orchestra, in partnership with Sofitel Melbourne On Collins, is delighted to welcome you to our retrospective photographic exhibition,30 Years of Baroque.
This beautiful collection features images curated from the Brandenburg’s archives, showcasing the 30 year journey of the Orchestra thus far. This exhibition also celebrates 10 years of the Brandenburg performing on the stunning stage at the Melbourne Recital Centre.
Led by charismatic Artistic Director Paul Dyer since 1989, the Brandenburg has become a leading voice in the Australian cultural landscape; celebrating the music of the sixteenth, seventeenth and eighteenth centuries with excellence and flair.
To know the Brandenburg is to go back in time, but to view the old through a modern lens – it’s this vibrant and relevant approach to Baroque and Classical music that brings immense joy and delight to a live audience of more than 54,000 people each year. Brandenburg performances are imbued with a palpable warmth, opulence and connection giving the sense, as an audience member, of having received a beautiful gift.
Comprising leading specialists in historically informed performance practice from across the nation, Australia’s national Baroque orchestra performs using original edition scores and instruments from the period, breathing life and vitality into Baroque and Classical masterpieces – as though the music has just sprung from the composer’s pen.
