MELBOURNE November 2018 –
Sofitel Melbourne On Collins will be serving up a Monochromatic High Tea
to celebrate the opening of the Escher X nendo/ Between Two Worlds exhibition at the National Gallery of Victoria
Sofi’s Lounge will serve up the most illusive sweet treats guised in black and white, featuring black sesame waffle cones with salted caramel, passion fruit gel and coconut chilboust, White chocolate opera slices with blackened coffee gel, Escher’s Black Rose with raspberry sponge and blueberry jelly, rose and white chocolate mousse on hazelnut dacquois, plus lime meringues with ash choux profiteroles alongside charcoal scones accompanied by fresh clotted cream, house-made jam and lemon curd and an assortment of finger sandwiches; all served on a custom-made architectural designed Escher-esque high tea stand.
“I was inspired by M.C. Escher’s work that made people look past what is the norm in terms of visuals and colour. With this high tea, my hope is guests can open their minds to each item’s own individual burst of flavour” adds Pastry Chef, David Hann.
Perfect for lovers of art, architecture and afternoon tea the Monochromatic high tea is a true representation of Escher’s most paradoxical work. Shaped by combining the creativity of Sofitel’s pastry extraordinaire, David Hann and the talented curators of NGV this one of a kind experience is quite possibly the most intriguing high tea experience to date.
The Monochromatic high tea is served with a glass of sparkling wine, Madame Flavour loose leaf teas and espresso coffee for $55 per person. Guests can also upgrade to have free flowing sparkling for $65, replenished sweets and savouries for $70 and high tea with Taittinger Champagne for $75 per person.
The High tea is available for four weeks only on weekdays during the month of December. There will be two sessions from 12:00pm concluding at 2:00pm or 3:00pm concluding at 5:00pm.
Bookings can be made at tableplus.com.au to by email on H1902-re13@sofitel.com or by contacting 1800 519 700.
